Tropical Elite Hockey League

The new TEHL is a Junior A hockey league in Florida, mostly for American hockey players 20 years old or under.

TEHL Players

Teams in the new Tropical Elite Hockey League may be comprised of junior hockey players from all over the US. In addition, each team will be allowed to have eight non-US players on their rosters.  Players may be between 15 and 20 years old.

From TEHL To NCAA Or Pro Hockey

Junior hockey is a great stepping stone and can fulfill the desire of many a young hockey player to play D1 NCAA college hockey or play professional hockey at some level, and to attract attention from hockey scouts.  TEHL coaches will help all players attain those goals.  Coach Dennis Chighisola of the new TEHL St. Cloud Thunder has helped develop at least 20 players who went on to play in the NHL, and hundreds more who played in all three levels of NCAA hockey. All TEHL coaches will help their hockey players on their respective teams utilizing their own unique connections.

Junior Hockey Training

Coach Chighisola says that St Cloud Thunder hockey training will be very intense, and he expects that each player’s game will advance significantly with daily off-ice and on-ice training, plus at least two games per week for the long season.

TEHL Junior Hockey Philosophy on Schooling

Tropical Elite Hockey League will help players get enrolled in a local high school, or arrange for home schooling.  Players out of high school will be asked to take a class or two at a local community college.

Living Accommodations for Players

Each TEHL player will live with a host family in the area, with most families being serious hockey fans and parents of kids playing in local youth hockey leagues.

TEHL Cost for Players

It costs $6000 per year (which may be budgeted) to play in the Tropical Elite Hockey League, and another $300 per month for living expenses, paid to the host family.  Those fees are set by the TEHL, so that all league players pay the same. This cost is standard in Junior hockey around the US, and around $1000 less than some Junior hockey leagues.
