When Erik Karlsson Made It Into The NHL
Erik Karlsson was born on May 31, 1990 in Landsbro, Sweden, and came up in the Swedish Frolunda HC Goteborg hockey organization where he was playing when drafted 15th overall by the Ottawa Senators in the 1st round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. In the 2009-10 season, at the age of 19, Karlsson was over Sweden’s Junior leagues and Team Frolunda, and commenced his Senators career with a dozen games in Binghamton on the AHL “Farm Team”. A short stint in the AHL was all that was required for Erik. Karlsson was called up that season for the last 60 games, and made a name for himself as a permanent fixture on the roster. Erik Karlsson certainly displayed what it takes to make it to the NHL.
